Why do arteries need to be thick, muscular, and elastic? to make our bodies strong for movement to withstand the pressure of the blood that is being pumped by the heart to pull the blood back to the heart from all areas of the body to withstand changes in blood temperature

Arteries need to be elastic and muscular, and just overall sturdy for one reason; the pressure an force of the blood that is pumped through the arteries is MASSIVE. This is required to pump blood to oxygenate all your bodies tissues. If it unable to handle the force you could blow blood vessels, and when this comes to arteries you would loose massive amounts of blood.
