In the small intestine, the pancreas secretes to digest triglycerides

In the small intestine, the pancreas secretes (pancreatic) lipase to digest triglycerides.

The pancreatic lipase causes lipolysis by acting as ester bond, breaking the bond and releasing the fatty acid. Lipids (triglycerides) break down into fatty acids, monoglycerides and diglycerides enabling the duodenum to absorb it.

 

 

In the small intestine, the pancreas secretes lipase to digest triglycerides. Small intestines is a part of the intestines where 90% of the digestion and absorption of food occurs, the other 10% taking place in the stomach and the large intestine. Its main function is absorption of nutrients and minerals in food. Most of the digestive enzymes that act in the small intestine are secreted by the pancreas and liver and enter the small intestine via the pancreatic duct. An example is enzyme lipase that digest triglycerides to fatty acids and glycerol, which are absorbed to the body metabolism.
