The role of contingency planning in healthcare is to reduce the probable health consequence of threats and stay ready to respond in case of an emergency. A contingency plan plays the role of ensuring that any injury, damage, property loss, personnel loss and data are prevented and controlled.  A contingency plan will also ensure that regardless of the situation, key operations would not cease in healthcare. Every healthcare organization must create a contingency plan else it stands a big risk of losing property, lives, data, and others in the event of an unexpected incident.
