Debi purchased $108 worth of sheets at a sale on Labor Day weekend, when $1.50 was marked off every article. She returned the sheets on Thursday (she really didn't need sheets anyway), when everything was marked at regular prices. Because Debi is such a good customer, the sales clerk gave her credit using regular prices and not sale prices, so Debi got more than $108 worth of credit. In fact, for the price of one sheet she could now get one towel and one washcloth. She was ecstatic about this and immediately exchanged her sheets for what she really wanted—towels and washcloths. (The towels, washcloths, and sheets were all now marked at regular prices.) Because washcloths cost only $2.75 each, and she needed more washcloths than towels, she got 6 more washcloths than towels. She came home on Thursday with 18 more articles than she'd bought on Saturday. How many washcloths and towels did Debi go home with on Thursday? What would she have paid for them if she had bought them on Saturday at the sale prices?
