Why do people take so long to reply back when we talk to them

It may be because they are busy, or they just don't feel like starting a conversation. Sometimes when I read a message and am about to reply, I get distracted by something else and forget to reply. xD

Maybe someone just isn't in the mood to answer because they are caught up in something else.
