Leukemia is the most frequent cancer kind in children. During chemotherapy, it is not rare that children and families are scared and confused. In order to explain the therapy and motivate the family and patients to move forward, a Brazilian hospital developed an amazing project. This project was later replicated to more than 200 hospitals worldwide. Firstly, watch the following video for preparing this activity.

You and your group were just hired by the major of your city to implement a similar project in the public hospital of the city. However, the city does not have enough resources to invest in it and they have a team searching for a sponsor. The budget is US$ 50,000 for investing in plastic cages and additional material. The good news is that Marvel just confirmed their participation in this project free of charge. The hospital serves 100 kids in the cancer center and they expect to launch this project next Summer.

You were requested to sketch a WBS for this project. As it is the first time they do this kind of exercise, the major knows that estimating costs and times is a difficult challenge but he expects to get at least a brief idea of how you can split the budget into the activities. Feel free to discuss this with your team and be creative. The core idea here is to exploit as much as possible the activities involved in this project.

Instructions:

Join and discuss with your group members the video (group members pre-assigned by the professor)
Prepare a clear project statement comprising what is your project about, the costs and conclusion time
Sketch a WBS
Consider cost and time estimation for each major deliverable
Base your assumptions on the video, but you are also allowed to be creative in this exercise.
Make sure that you read my instructions on how to develop a good case analysis available in Canvas.

Special order carson manufacturing, inc., sells a single product for $36 per unit. at an operating level of 8,000 units, variable costs are $18 per unit and fixed costs $10 per unit. carson has been offered a price of $20 per unit on a special order of 2,000 units by big mart discount stores, which would use its own brand name on the item. if carson accepts the order, material cost will be $3 less per unit than for regular production. however, special stamping equipment costing $4,000 would be needed to process the order; the equipment would then be discarded. assuming that volume remains within the relevant range, prepare an analysis of differential revenue and costs to determine whether carson should accept the special order. use a negative sign with answer to only indicate an income loss from special order; otherwise do not use negative signs with your answers.
