Susiripala is one of the entrepreneurs based in Ratnapura. He commenced his career as traditionalregistered Ayurvedic doctor and later he ventured into plantation. With his inherited property of60 acres of fertile land he cultivated turmeric, pepper and tea. He formed the "Susiri" PVT Ltd andventured into the export market as well. His daughter Sarala graduated from one of the Russianuniversities with a medical degree and returned to Sri Lanka in October 2017. In 2018, shecompleted Act 16 examination conducted by the Sri Lanka medical council and obtained theregistration to practice as a medical doctor. Upon obtaining her registration, she startedindependent practice together with running a pharmacy as well in the adjoining building. Herreputation for curing patients resulted to build up public image in an around Palmadulla area. Sarala proposed father to construct a private hospital in Palmadulla using their 12 acre own landsituated in the road side of Ratnapura – Colombo main road. Sarala’s husband, Kasun is a civilengineer and he came up with the initial plan of going ahead with the hospital project. Estimatedcost of all operations of the proposed hospital project is Rs. 1200 million. Mr. Susiripala agreed toprovide Rs. 300 million for the project initially and there is no any other financial means to financethis project. Sarala and Kasun with their limited knowledge discussed the issue of raising funds by opening upits shares in the share market. Through the known contacts Kasun learnt that you are pursuingMaster of Business in Finance/Accountancy degree in the University of Kelaniya and wanted toget overall understanding on overall Financial Management function of a corporate concern. Theywanted you to prepare a comprehensive report outlining all Financial Management decisionsrelated to this project. Further, they stated that this project is considered as the first and onlyinstance where a private institution in the Sabaragamuwa Province will issue its shares to thegeneral public. You are required to;Prepare a report covering all major aspects/decisions related to financial management of a listedcorporate concern to convince and rationalize Susiripala family’s interest.
