What possible negative repercussions can the aggressive growth strategy that starbucks exhibits have on its leadership agenda?

In 2009 Starbucks started to downsize the business by closing most of its the stores. The management decided to discontinue the growth strategy. It might have assessed that there are negative repercussions that would come out because of the recession.  
The organization could have foresighted that at that point, wrong management decisions could lead them to further financial loses, staff problems that can be detrimental to the business. So Starbucks decided to think of a strategy to sustain the business and invest with their employees and leaders. Starbucks believes that good leadership and having the right people is a core element in the business.
