Both hormones are secreted by the pancreas. Pancreas has 2 cells as alpha and beta. alpha cells produce glucagon and beta cell produce insulin. Insulin is responsible for decreasing blood glucose level and glucagon is responsible for increasing blood glucose level. Hence, both hormones have opposite effects on blood glucose level and they help to maintain blood glucose level.
