Why is it important for scientists to try and predict where hurricanes will pass over

Well they need to know when and where hurricanes and or tornadoes pass over so they can alert citizens that way they don't get hurt and can prevent death. They also need to know in advance so if it is gonna be a bad storm they can evacuate the city,town, and or area.
