As such, when a number is given to be rounded to a x significant numbers, the count starts from the left with the first number on the left being the first significant number and others following through i.e the next being the second significant number.

However, to round off to x significant number, we consider the number in the x+1 position. If the number is up to 5, it will be rounded ( as well as every other numbers to the right) to zero but 1 will be added to the number in the x position.
