When a fluidized column is operated at a superficial velocity of 10 cm/sec which is 5 times the minimum fluidization velocity, it was found the bubble size at the mid-point in the column was 10 cm and that bubbles occupied exactly 10.6% of the column and eps-mf. gif=0.5.
(a)what is the size of the particles in the column? do not neglect any terms in your calculations.
(b)if the cross sectional area of the column is 314.16 cm 2, what is the tower height?
(c) if the particle density is 2 gm per cm 3, the porosity at minimum fluidization conditions 0.5, and the specific reaction rate, k cat= 0.05 sec -1 , and kr = 5 for an irreversible first order isomerization reaction, asmall arrowb, what will be the conversion? if you were unable to find h in part b, take h= 20 cm
