Acooling system is used to remove the excess energy from an exothermic reaction in a polymerization reactor, shown below. the temperature in the reactor increases drastically because of failure of the cooling system fails in the process which leads to an increase in reaction rate and additional energy release. the ultimate end result is a runaway situation in the process with pressures exceeding the threshold limit of the reactor pressure vessel. a safety control valve has to be installed to manipulate the cooling water by considering the control loop concept. perform hazop study on the (15 marks) reactor to enhance the safety of the process.
