Asynthetic ammonia plant is continuously fed with a 1: 3 molar nitrogen-hydrogen mixture containing 0.4 moles of argon per 100 moles of nitrogen-hydrogen mixture. the conversion in the reactor is 30% and the level of argon in the reactor outlet is 5%, by volume, of the sum of the hydrogen and nitrogen at the reactor outlet. the reactor outlet stream is cooled in a condenser. assume all the ammonia leaves from the condenser as liquid and this product stream is 100% pure. the vapour stream leaving the condenser is recycled. (a) draw the flow diagram of the process. [3 marks) (b) write the chemical equation for the ammonia formation reaction and state whether any of the reactants are in excess. [1 mark] explain why the mole ratio of argon to the mixture of hydrogen and nitrogen is the same before and after the condenser [1 mark] calculate the amount of the purge for a given feed rate of the mixture of hydrogen and nitrogen. [4 marks] calculate the fraction of the unreacted nitrogen and hydrogen from the condenser, which is continuously purged, to maintain the argon level. [6 marks] calculate the feed rate (in tonnes per hour) needed to produce 1 tonne per hour of ammonia. [5 marks] the atomic weight of argon is 40.

Answer asap need by wednesday morning explain how a buffer works, using an ethanoic acid/sodium ethanoate system including how the system resists changes in ph upon addition of a small amount of base and upon addition of a small amount of acid respectively. include the following calculations in your i. calculate the ph of a solution made by mixing 25cm3 0.1m ch3cooh and 40cm3 0.1m ch3coo-na+. [ka = 1.74 x 10-5 m] ii. calculate the ph following the addition of a 10cm3 portion of 0.08 m naoh to 500cm3 of this buffer solution. iii. calculate the ph following the addition of a 10cm3 portion of 0.08 m hcl to 200cm3 of the original buffer solution.
