Achemical engineer is seeking a steady flow device that can produce low pressure steam at 10 bar and 200◦c from a 1 kg/s stream of high pressure steam at 100 bar and 400◦c. assume steam is a real fluid following the steam tables in appendix a. iii of text. (a) determine if this is feasible with a joule-thomson valve. (b) determine if this is feasible with a turbine that is in contact with a heat reservoir at 450 ◦c that transfers heat at a rate of 500 kw into the turbine. (c) devise your own flow device or set of devices that can accomplish this task, specifying the rate of entropy generation, the rates of any work and/or heat flows, and the temperature of any heat sources/ sinks. note: this is an open-ended design question that can have different design solutions. comment on the practicality of your design.
