Solid, liquid and gas

Explanation:

Solid:  in the solid-state we have a lot of molecules in a very pack and organized structure which makes very difficult the movement of particles and creates a strong bond between the atoms or molecules that’s why solids have a definite shape and volume and they can resist the applications of external forces (not compressible).  

When a solid is heated the movement between molecules starts to become higher and some of the bonds start to break. If the solid is exposed to heat for enough time it can reach a temperature when enough bonds are broken that allows it to become a liquid. This change in the state is called fusion.  

Liquid: In the liquids  we have a lot of molecules but they are not as packed as in solids which allows them more movement but still there is a bond or attraction between molecules or atoms this allows them to have a definite volume but since there is some space available between them, they can change its shape according to the container where they are contained. Since the molecules are closer in liquids if we try to put them closer (compress) there is going to repulsion between electrons on the atoms in the molecules and this makes very difficult this process so we can say that liquids are not compressible.

Gases: In gases there is a lot of space between molecules or atoms so we can say that there is not a bond between them this makes then to adopt the shape of the container containing them, so they don’t have a definite shape. Since there is a lot of space between the molecules or atoms, they can move almost free until they take up all available space, so they don’t have a definite volume. You can also make the atoms or molecules get closer applying external forces, so you can compress gases.  

When a gas is heated the molecules have more energy, so they start to move faster increasing the pressure in the container.
