The molar volume at the normal boiling point of a substance can be estimated by the lyn and calus correlation in terms of the critical molar volume according to the following equation: v = 0.285v 1.048 where both variables are given in [cm3/mol]. (a) to maintain the dimensional homogeneity in this equation, what would the units of the constants 0.285 and 1.048 have to be? (b) modify the equation so that both variables are given in [ft3/lb-mol]. (c) the critical volume of carbon dioxide is 260 [cm3/mol]. use the above equation to estimate its molar volume at the normal boiling point. (d) convert the critical volume to [ft3/lb-mol] and use the equation obtained in (b) above to estimate the vb in [ft3/lb-mol]. (e) convert your answer in (c) to [ft3/lb-mol] and compare it to the one obtained in (d).
