Describe the makeup of earth’s atmosphere. how do solids get into the air?

The atmosphere of the earth refers to the gaseous envelope where various types of gases are present at a definite proportion. The major dominant gas is Nitrogen which is nearly 78%, next to this is the oxygen gas which is about 21% and Argon is present at about 1%. Some of the gases that are present in trace amount includes hydrogen. helium, carbon dioxide, ozone, methane, water vapor and many more. This composition of the atmosphere maintains the overall temperature of the earth by interacting with the incoming solar radiation.

There are certain solids that are very small and tiny particles found to be floating within the atmosphere. These are aerosol particles, dust particles, pollen and spores which are mainly emitted from the volcanic eruptions and sea spray. The aerosols are very fine suspended solid particles present abundantly in the atmosphere. They are originated both naturally and due to human activities. These fine particles help in maintaining a cooler temperature by decreasing the quantity of solar radiation emitted from the sun. These are so small that it can be lifted up easily into the higher atmosphere due to the wind factor.
