A1 m3 tank contains air that is maintained at a constant temperature by being in thermal equilibrium with its surroundings. the initial absolute pressure in the tank is po = 1 bar. the air in the tank is evacuated at a constant rate of q = 0.001 m3s-1 using a vacuum pump.
a. using the above information:
(1) draw a simple sketch of the system (10 points)
(2) write down all conservation rate equations applicable to the system (10 points)
(3) list and justify all simplifying assumptions (5 points)
(4) using the simplifying assumptions write down the final forms all the applicable conservation rate equations (20 points)
b. from the final forms of the applicable rate equations obtained in a(4) above set up the appropriate differential equations and:
(1) derive an expression for the pressure in the tank at any time t
(30 points)
(3) calculate how long it will take for the pressure in the tank to fall to a final pressure of 0.0001 b
