Theoretically it is possible for other isomers of the di-alkylated product to be formed. what are these two other isomers (structure and name)? Can you think of a reasonable explanation for why these products are not formed? Reaction: forming 1,4 di-t-butyl-2,5 –dimethoxybenzene through Friedel-Crafts alkylation using 1,4-dimethoxybenze, tert-butyl alcohol and sulfuric acid (the Lewis acid catalyst).
