How is the earths magnetic field evidence that convection is occurring?

Scientist think that the Earth's magnetic field is made from electric currents from the conductive iron alloys in the Earth's core, which would prove convention is occurring because this would have to be created by convection currents, another way to see it is because heat escaping from the core.
