Maglev trains float on a cushion of air, eliminating friction. This lack of friction and the trains' aerodynamic designs allow
these trains to reach unprecedented ground transportation speeds of more than 310 mph (500 kph). Developers say that
maglev trains will eventually link cities that are up to-1,000 miles (1,609 km) apart. At 310 mph, you could travel from Paris to
Rome in just over two hours.
Magnetic Levitation (maglev) trains use electricity to generate magnetic fields. How are these magnetic fields related to the
forward motion of the train?
Electricity is used to generate a magnetic field opposite that of the train so
the train is pulled forward along a frictionless surface.
Formulas
Electricity is used to generate a magnetic field of the same polarity as that
at the base of the train. This elevates the train and also moves it forward.

Electrinity generates a magnetic field as it flows through coils on the train.
A larg electromagnetic at the opposite end of the track pulls the train to
its destination and lifts it off the track.
A current below the train generates a magnetic field that levitates the
train, by using the repulsion of like charges. Electricity flows through coils
on the side of the track, as the current alternates it pulls the train forward
and pushes it from the back

Salicylic acid is a very important acid. it is used to synthesize the aspirin by treating with acetic anhydride. a 0.2015-g sample of salicylic acid was dissolved in a 100.00-ml volumetric flask, and the solution was diluted to the mark. a 10-ml aliquot of this solution was titrated with standard naoh (0.01130 + 0.2% n) to a phenolphthalein faint pink color end point at 19.81 ml. (a) (calculate the normality of the salicylic acid solution used in the titration. (b) assuming the salicylic acid is pure, what is the equivalent weight of the salicylic acid? practice problems for the final exam (continued) (c) (calculate the inherent error in the determination of the equivalent weight you calculated in part (b). use the following absolute errors in the equipment /glassware when calculating the inherent error. 5.00-ml pipet: + 0.02 ml 100-ml volumetric flask: + 0.08 ml analytical balance: + 0.2 mg 25-ml buret: + 0.03 ml
