Explain the difference between a homogeneous mixture and a heterogeneous mixture. Give an example of each.

Explanation:

Definition of a homogenous mixture:

"A homogeneous mixture is a solid, liquid, or gaseous mixture that has the same proportions of its components throughout any given sample." -Wikipedia

Definition of a heterogeneous mixture:

"A heterogeneous mixture has components in which proportions vary throughout the sample." -Wikipedia

So the difference is that heterogenous mixture's components may differ while a homogeneous mixture's components have the same proportions.
