I'm not very good at chemistry, but I would say 158.56. I may be wrong, answer at your own risk.

I'm pretty sure this is correct :) 

calculate the volume of the brass piece: 

(145 g over x) = 8.56 g/cm^3 

solve for x, then add that volume to the 50.0 mL and that will be the volume after the brass piece is added to the water. 

Oh and by the way, you can add the two values even though one is in mL and one is in cm^3. This is because 1 mL = 1 cm^3
