As the electrons in the three 2p orbitals are singly filled instead of pairing up as singly filling each 2p orbital will give maximum multiplicity.

So each 2p orbital is singly filled first and after all the three 2p orbitals are singly filled then only pairing of electrons will take place,which is in accordance with Hunds rule of maximum multiplicity.
