Why does the flow rate of a fluid with large particles increase?

The viscosity of intestinal contents should define the mixing, diffusion and flow of nutrients and other materials in digesta (1–4). The viscosity of intestinal contents has been measured only after the removal of solid particles by centrifugation (5,6), under the assumption that particles or insoluble fibers in the diet do not affect the viscosity of gut contents (7).
