Cell respiration is the conversion of glucose and oxygen into water and carbon dioxide to produce energy called ATP. The ATP created in cell respiration is used during photosynthesis to create glucose from water and carbon dioxide. This glucose can later be used in cell respiration to produce ATP, and the cycle continues.

ATP is important to the plant because ATP is the energy that allows cell respiration to start and for photosynthesis to turn water and carbon dioxide into oxygen and glucose.
