There are 3 dimethylbenzenes (xylenes) - ortho-, meta-, and para-, of course. Without NMR, it is not easy to assign the structures to the correct samples. Assume that you have a pure sample of each isomer. Show how monobromination (Br2/FeBr3) can be used to make the assignment. You should assume that because methyl is only weakly activating you can isolate pure some of each and every possible monobromo isomer for all three reactions and distinguish them by MP.

Acalorimeter is to be calibrated: 51.203 g of water at 55.2 degree c is added to a calorimeter containing 49.783 g of water at 23.5c. after stirring and waiting for the system to equilibrate, the final temperature reached is 37.6 degree c. specific heat capacity of water (s = 4.18 j/g∙degree c). calculate the calorimeter constant. (smδt)warm water = -[(smδt)cold water + (calorimeterδtcold water)]
