Fresh feed at the rate of 10,000 kg/h containing 20% by weight Potassiumnitrate (K) in water (W) is combined with a recycle stream and fed to an evaporator. Pure water is evaporated out and the concentrated solution leaving the evaporator con-tains 50% K. This concentrated solution is fed to a crystallizer. The crystals obtainedfrom the crystallizer contain 96% K and 4% water. The supernatant liquid from thecrystallizer constitutes the recycle stream and contains 0.6 kg K per 1 kg of W.
