No rigor mortis was evident, but livor mortis had set in with blood pooling along the back. There was no bloating or bacterial activity in the digestive system and no putrefaction. The man had been dead for more than 48 hours. How is that possible? Justify your answer using knowledge of rigor mortis, livor mortis, algor mortis, and extenuating circumstances.
