Dr. Ghana works for a juice company. She knows that fruit juice is a mixture of sugar, water, and other natural ingredients. She meeded to separate a serving of juice into its separate parts to measure how much sugar was in each serving. First, she
measured the weight of one cup of juice. Then, using special tools in a laboratory, she separated the water, sugar, and other
parts of the juice and measured the weight of each She wrote all the weights in a table, shown below.
Weights of Juice Parts in one Serving
Juice Part Weight
water
230 grams
sugar
25 grams
other parts 5 grams
total mixture 260 grams
Looking at the table, she noticed that adding up all the weights of the parts in the juice equaled the total weight of the juice.
What did this demonstrate about the weight of mixtures?
A. The weight of a serving of juice does not depend on what is in the juice.
B. The weight of a whole mixture is equal to the sum of the weights of its parts
The weight of a whole mixture is more than the sum of the weights of its parts
