5. Magnesium nitrate, Mg(NO3)2 is a hygroscopic, crystalline solid white. It is highly
soluble in water as well as ethanol and occurs naturally in caverns and mines. If a
sample of 35 g of magnesium nitrate is used as a dehydrating agent to prepare
concentrated nitric acid, calculate:
(a) the number of moles of magnesium nitrate,
(b) the number of molecules of magnesium nitrate.
(c) the number of oxygen atoms.
(d) the number of nitrate ions.
(e) the volume of magnesium nitrate at STP.
(f) the volume of magnesium nitrate at room temperature.
