A completely mixed flow reactor (CMFR) has an influent flowrate of 100 gal/min (380 L/min) and contains a reactive contaminant with concentration of 150 mg/L. The contaminant destruction reaction is first order with a rate constant of 0.40 hr-1. (a) Determine the detention time and the volume of reactor needed for the effluent to contain only 20 mg/L of contaminant. Express the volume as gallons and liters.(b) Create a plot of the percent contaminant destroyed versus detention time. (c) How many times larger must a CMFR be versus a PFR to achieve 80% contaminant destruction
