A student was tasked with determining the specific heat of a metal, and used the following procedure to do so. The student wrote the important numbers in the procedure, within square brackets. Use the procedure to fill in the students data boxes and complete the calculations that followProcedure:1) Heat up some water in a beaker, make sure there is enough water in the beaker to cover the provided piece of metal.2) Measure the mass of the metal. [Mass of metal: 81.0 g]3) Measure the mass of two empty and dry Styrofoam cups: [Mass of cups = 1.85 g]4) Fill the cups with some room temperature water, then measure the mass of the cups and the water in the cups: [Mass of water and cups = 195.05 g]5) Place the metal inside the hot water, in the beaker as in figure 1 below.6) Measure the temperature of the water in the Styrofoam cups. [Temperature = 19.8 oC]7) Measure the temperature of the water in the beaker, that contains the metal just before moving the metal to the water in the Styrofoam cups. [Temp = 99.4 oC]8) Move the metal from the hot water to the cold water (from the beaker to the cups - see figure 2 below), then watch the temperature and record the highest temperature that the water reaches. [Temp = 26.7 oC]9) Clean up the area.
