Blood is brought by the veins to the lungs to become oxygenated. Oxygenation occurs at the small structures of the lungs called the alveoli. Blood enters the vesicles and capillaries that surround the alveoli and oxygen and carbon dioxide carried are exchanged between the capillaries and the alveoli. The oxygen is carried on red blood cells and returns to the heart to be pumped to the rest of the body to supply oxygen. Read the description of diseases and connect the disease to the affect they might have on the individual. Not all affects will be used.
Disease
Pneumonia causes alveoli to become filled with fluid.
Sickle Cell Anemia causes red blood cells to be distorted which causes red blood cells to break down quickly.
Alveolar Capillary Dysplasia causes the capillaries around the alveoli to not be formed correctly.

Effect on Health
Oxygen and carbon dioxide are not exchanged in appropriate amounts.
Less oxygen is carried to the body. This can lead to tissues such as organs and muscles being deprived of oxygen.
Oxygen cannot reach the capillaries to be transferred to red blood cells.
The trachea is weakened.

Match the bottom ones to the top pls!
