An experiment is carried out to determine the percentage composition by mass of sand and copper (II) sulphate in a mixture. A 10.0 g portion of the mixture is stirred in 200 cm3 of distilled water, until no further change takes place. The resulting mixture is filtered into a clean beaker using a funnel fitted with filter paper.
