Why did rutherford suggest that the positive charge in an atomic nucleus is concentrated in a tiny region rather than spread evenly throughout the atom?

Technically he tried shooting particles through a thin foil and looked at the results through an electronic microscope and found that the particles he shot that went through the sheet all passed through the side of the atoms and the ones that hit the center bounced off. This is because the particles he used are positively charged and the nucleus of the atom is positively charged, positive and positive repels and thus the particles bounce off and concluded that the denser part of the atom (nucleus) is positive and filled worth protons.
