2.12 LAB: Name format Many documents use a specific format for a person's name. Write a program whose input is: firstName middleName lastName and whose output is: lastName, firstInitial. middleInitial.

The java.util.scanner can be imported and can be used to write a program that produces an output with the format lastName, firstInitial.middleInitial.

So, you first import the java.util.scanner, and the class is assigned to a LabProgram

     public static void main(String [ ] args )  {

            Scanner scnr = new Scanner (System.in);

            String fullName = scnr.nextLine ( );

            String [] names = fullName.split( " ");

            String firstName = names [0];

            String middleName = names [1];

                Sytem.out.printIn(middleName + ", " + firstName.charAt (0)

            else {

                String lastName = names [2];

                System.out.printIn(lastNam + "," + firstName.charAt (0) +

             }

       }

}

So what the above program specifically does was to compute the name in a pattern where the input starts with firstName, middleName, and lastName and the output shows only lastName, firstinitial.middleinitial.

This line prompts user for firstName

This line prompts user for middleName

middleName  = input("Middle name: ")

This line prompts user for lastName

This line gets the firstInitial

firstInitial = firstName[0]

This line gets the middleInitial

middleInitial = middleName[0]

This line prints the lastName, followed by the first and middle initials
