Describe what a database is and what function it serves. Discuss one specific database: Microsoft SQL Server, which you plan to use as part of your work. Examine the SQL Server website for information about this particular technology and make sure to include in your memo something that you think is important about SQL Server. (Link to website here.) You know that you will use Microsoft SQL Server for the task, but you heard someone ask you what the difference is between proprietary and open source databases. Make sure to look up the difference and give an example of one open source database in your discussion. Remember that you will need to balance the need to write about technical issues and being able to do so in a way that non-technical people can understand without them perceiving you as being condescending.
