Acylindrical container, who contained pressure, is to have a circular plate welded in one end with complete fillet welds laid around the edge of the plate facing into the container and the edge of the plate facing out of the container. the container has an internal diameter of 500mm. the steel from which the plate is made has an elastic modulus of 200gpa and a poisson's ratio of 0.3. se wall thickness is considerably more than is required to resist the i)- how you would categorise this edge support? ii)- determine the minimum thickness the plate should have if it is to resist a pressure of 1 mpa without anywhere experiencing a stress greater in magnitude than 100 mpa
