The system shown below is in equilibrium and consists of two
weights on a smooth ramp, four frictionless pulleys, a four
springs, a horizontal bar abc, and some ropes. the spring constants
k1 = 300 lb/ft and k2 = 500 lb/ft. springs k3 and k4 are identical.
the weight of block x is 1000 lb and y is 2000 lb. after the system
reached equilibrium, it was determined that the parallel spring
pack stretched 3 in. and the two springs in series k3 and k4
stretched a combined total of 5.5 in.
a) determine the normal force exerted on block y by the ramp.
b) determine the moment about point a generated by the tensions in
the ropes at b and c.
c) determine the normal force exerted on block x by the ramp.
d) determine the spring constant k4.
