Atank (initially empty) is attached to a steam line at 70 psia and 600ºf. a valve is opened and the tank is filled until the pressure is 70 psia. however, there is not sufficient time for the steam in the tank and the steam in the line to come to thermal equilibrium. the tank is insulated so that the filling process takes place adiabatically. the tank is in a cylinder with a diameter of 2 ft. and height of 4 ft .a) what mass of steam is in the tank after it is filled? b) what is the final temperature in the tank? c) in physical terms explain why the temperature in the tank is different than the temperature in the line after the tank is filled, it is disconnected from the line. unfortunately, it develops a leak. heat is added to keep the temperature constant (at the value determined from part (b) above) but the pressure drops to atmospheric (14.7 psia). d) how much steam leaked from the tank?

For the closed feedwater heater below, feedwater enters state 3 at a pressure of 2000 psia and temperature of 420 °f at a rate of ix10 ibhr. the feedwat extracted steam enters state 1 at a pressure of 1000 psia and enthalpy of 1500 btu/lbm. the extracted er leaves at an enthalpy of 528.7 btu/lbm steam leaves as a saturated liquid. (16) a) determine the mass flow rate of the extraction steam used to heat the feedwater (10) b) determine the terminal temperature difference of the closed feedwater heater
