Arectangular open channel has two reaches with a discharge of 350 cfs. the upstream reach is 15 ft wide and is in the super-critical flow condition. the downstream reach is a 15-ft wide horizontal concrete basin. the water depth at the downstream end of the concrete basin is 4 ft. determine (1) whether a hydraulic jump will occur and explain why: (2) if a hydraulic jump will occur, calculate the depth before the jump and the energy loss through the jump.
