The rod is made of A-36 steel and has a diameter of 0.24 in. If the rod is 4 ft long when the springs are compressed 0.4 in. and the temperature of the rod is 60 F, determine the force in the rod when its temperature is 120 F.
There are two springs on either side of the rod where the spring constant 1000 lb/in and the modulus of elasticity of the steel is 29000 ksi.
