The ability to manipulate complex numbers is important in the analysis of circuits and systems. In EE 210 you used complex numbers known as phasors to quickly determine the sinusoidal steady-state response of an electric circuit. Please carefully read Background Section B.1 in Lathi before attempting the following review problems. Except for the MATLAB questions, solve the equations by hand, do not use a calculator. To receive credit for the MATLAB questions, include an m-file with your name and section that shows the MATLAB commands used to answers parts 4 and 5.

Acompressor compresses a gas, a pump compresses a liquid. for a given pressure ratio, why does it take more work to compress a gas in a compressor than a liquid in a pump? a)- for a given pressure ratio the average specific volume for a gas is much higher than the average specific volume for a liquid. b)- there is no difference. the only difference is the amount of heat generated (not work) c)- for a given pressure ratio the average volurge for a gas is much higher than the average volume for a liquid. d)-there is no difference

1in2 processor chip can be modelled as an isothermal plane wall of silicon, isothermal on both sides. the power input to the bottom of the plane wall, or the processing power of the chip, often called the thermal design power (tdp), is 100w. assume the periphery is adiabatic. the silicon is 400 microns thick. the temperature at the junction, or in this case on the bottom of the isothermal plane wall, is 85°c. what is the top surface temperature, assuming that the only mode of heat transfer is conduction
