A two pole, 850 kVA, 2400 Vrms, 60 Hz, three-phase synchronous machine acting as a generator has a syn-chronous reactance of 7.5 a and you can assume the armature resistance to be negligible. It operates at the rated open circuit voltage with a field current of 175 A. Analytically find: (a) 10pts. The magnitude of the field-to-armature mutual inductance. (b) 10pts. The internal voltage value for a load of 750 kW at unity power factor. (c) 10pts. Using a MATLAB script m-file (not a Simscape simulation) create a plot for the constant load power in (b) while varying the field current to archive a maximum and minimum values of 850 kVA leading/lagging. Find the value of the field current that produces the minimum terminal current value. Rel. Date: 3/22/20 Michigan Technological University 2 of 3

1in2 processor chip can be modelled as an isothermal plane wall of silicon, isothermal on both sides. the power input to the bottom of the plane wall, or the processing power of the chip, often called the thermal design power (tdp), is 100w. assume the periphery is adiabatic. the silicon is 400 microns thick. the temperature at the junction, or in this case on the bottom of the isothermal plane wall, is 85°c. what is the top surface temperature, assuming that the only mode of heat transfer is conduction
