A carbon steel block is end milled by a machine of 1.5 kW maximum power. The process utulizes a four-flute cutter of 24.5 mm diameter at 5mm radial depth of cut and 40 mm axial depth of cut in an up-cutting configuration. The length of the workpiece being machines is 60mm. If the total machining time is not to be more than 60s, what would be the best surface finish available? Give your anwer in terms of R_a. Since the depth of cure covers the entire width of the work piece the surface of the concern is created along the wall of the cutter. Assume that the maximum cutting power is twice the average cutting power. There is no need to use safety factor of any sort in your calculation.
