Weir, upstep and jump
Water with depth y1 flows over a broad-crested weir with height P (where the water depth above the BCW is y2) in a horizontal rectangular channel. Directly downstream of the weir, the channel bottom rises by an amount d above the original channel bottom (d > P) and the water depth becomes y3 and the Froude number F3=2. Further downstream, a hydraulic jump occurs where the water depth becomes y4. If y1 is twice y2, find:
a) Froude number upstream of the weir F1
b) y3/y1
c) d/y2
d) y4/y1
e) P/y1
