In a quadrophonic stereo system, 4 microphones labeled LF (left front), LR(left rear), RF(right front), and RR (right rear) are employed, and the receiver has 4 corresponding speakers positioned around the listener. It is possible to encode this information using the allowed 75 kHz composite baseband bandwidth so that a conventional FM stereo radio or television will behave properly, while a set equipped with 4 speakers will be able to direct the 4 microphone signals to the respective speakers. How can this be accomplished? (Note that this is a tricky question, and partial credit will flow freely.)

Two flowing streams of argon gas are adiabatically mixed to form a single flow/stream. one stream is 1.5 kg/s at 400 kpa and 200 c while the second stream is 2kg/s at 500 kpa and 100 ? . it is stated that the exit state of the mixed single flow of argon gas is 150 c and 300 kpa. assuming there is no work output or input during the mixing process, does this process violate either the first or the second law or both? explain and state all your assumptions.

An open feedwater heater operates at steady state with liquid entering at inlet 1 with t? = 40°c and pl = 1 .2 mpa. water vapor att2-200°c and p2 = 1.2 mpa enters at inlet 2. saturated liquid water exits with a pressure of pa 1.2 mpa. neglect heat transfer with the surroundings and all kinetic and potential energy effects, determine the mass flow rate of steam at inlet 2 if the mass flow rate of liquid water at inlet 1 is given as 2 kg/s.
