A quadcopter drone is monitoring the activity of a volcano. Using satellite imagery, the height, h, of the volcano in meters from sea level) has been determined by x2 + y2 + xy h(x, y) = ( 5000 – 25(x + y) - to -32000 + + 2002 where x and y are measured in meters relative to the origin of a square volcanic region defined for 0 < x, y s 1600 m. The drone is initially resting on the volcano at (x, y) = (150, 150) m. A research group wants to collect data at (x, y) = (1450, 1450) m. To move the drone, we want to (1) move it purely vertically up, (2) move in the xy-plane above the end position and then (3) move purely vertically down. To move from the start point to the endpoint, the drone may not leave the defined area or it will lose its signal and be unable to collect data. Additionally, we want the drone to remain as low as possible to maximize the signal from the base station to the drone. A. Create a 3D topographic plot (e. g., mesh, surf, etc.) of the volcanic area. The plot should indicate the height of the volcano and the start and endpoint for the drone. B. Find the minimum height (measured from sea level) that the drone must ascend from the start point so that it can fly to the endpoint without (1) leaving the area and (2) not hitting the volcano.

Two flowing streams of argon gas are adiabatically mixed to form a single flow/stream. one stream is 1.5 kg/s at 400 kpa and 200 c while the second stream is 2kg/s at 500 kpa and 100 ? . it is stated that the exit state of the mixed single flow of argon gas is 150 c and 300 kpa. assuming there is no work output or input during the mixing process, does this process violate either the first or the second law or both? explain and state all your assumptions.
